Porcelain Laminate Veneers

Porcelain Veneers, also known as laminates, are custom made facings that fit precisely and are permanently bonded over the front surface of an existing tooth. They are extremely durable and most closely resemble white tooth enamel. Porcelain veneers are used to correct certain conditions affecting the front teeth such as closing spaces, restoring broken or chipped teeth, permanently whitening stained or discolored teeth and even sometimes correcting uneven or crooked teeth. With the help of porcelain laminate veneers, Dr. Stampelos has been restoring smiles for over 20 years, achieving that natural look quickly and effectively. Call us today for a consultation, and one of our general dentists will determine if veneers are suitable for you.

Bleaching

There are many bleaching systems, but which system is right for you? Here at Total Family Dentistry, we offer a couple of bleaching options. The convenient in office system or the teeth whitening take home kit.

Zoom bleaching is our in-office system. This procedure will make your teeth dramatically whiter. The procedure is simple. A highly concentrated gel is applied to your teeth. This gel is then activated by a specially designed light. This procedure takes about an hour and consists of 3 short cycles of gel application. During this time you can relax and watch TV. When you leave our office, the bleaching process is complete.

In addition to our in office system we also offer a take home kit which uses plastic trays that you fill with gel and wear daily for one hour for 1-2 weeks. Custom molds are taken of your mouth and these plastic trays are made to fit perfectly over your teeth to hold the whitening gel in place. This process is less convenient for some but more ideal for others. Which teeth bleaching is right for you? Crowns/Caps

When a tooth has extensive decay or a large filling that is breaking down and leaking, a crown is necessary to cover and protect the remaining tooth structure. This results in a stronger and more stable tooth, preventing tooth fracture and possible tooth loss. In some instances, 2 crowns separated by a space are attached together by a false tooth in the middle to bring back a missing tooth. This is called a permanent bridge. There are many types of crowns and bridges depending on it’s position in the mouth, the amount of tooth structure it’s replacing and the esthetic result that we wish to achieve.

Here at Total Family Dentistry we use high quality dental labs that have the highest standard of materials used resulting in excellent cosmetic results. Our crowns are all 100% fabricated here on Long Island, guaranteeing us the use of biocompatible materials that are FDA approved. Call us today for a complete evaluation of your teeth to determine if a crown is necessary to replace your fractured or decayed tooth.

Composite white fillings

Composite “white” fillings are used to replace small to moderate tooth structure lost due to decay or fracture. Composite fillings are more cosmetically accepted as they are less noticeable than the older silver/black fillings. In some instances, amalgam (silver) fillings are removed and replaced by composite fillings to bring back the tooth’s natural luster and appearance. Call us today for an appointment to evaluate and see if composite fillings are right for you.
